The Law of Being
This might be a Universal Law that you haven't heard of. This is spoken of by James Allen in As a Man Thinketh.
If you identify as a middle class man, and you associate with other middle class men, you will remain a middle class man. If you, like Don Quixote, believe that you are a hero, then you will be a hero.
This is the Law of Being. You are who you believe you are. Nietzsche said it. He said that if a man quacks like a duck and walks like a duck, then who's to say that he isn't a duck? I would go further. Who's to say that he didn't make himself a duck?
We are Co-Creators with Source Energy
Any person who has ever made a decision, an unbreakable decision with himself, knows that we create our own self and our own circumstances.
The soul (connected to Higher mind) attracts that which it desires. The Ego (lower mind) attracts that which it fears. Life is a constant battle between the two as long as we consider our lives a matter of outside circumstances. We take control the instant that we decide to side with the Higher mind. In the language of A Course in Miracles, the Holy Spirit then inspires us to step aside from the Ego so that we can see the truth.
It is then, in an instant, that we are able to see who we really are. This one decision frees us from the illusion and frees us from Fate. We used our free will to free ourselves. We are now able to connect to the One and Love.
The Dark Night of the Soul
Christ had his Gethsemane. Every Saint had what many call "the Dark Night of the Soul" which is a time of spiritual suffering and doubt after having a time of complete understanding and sense of connection to God.
Many New Thought authors write that suffering is always the result of some wrong thought or of being out of harmony. I want to free the saints and Christ from this judgment. (Judgment is always a thought engendered by the lower mind or Ego.) Suffering is always the product of Egoic thinking.
While we are in time/space, or on earth, we have our Egoic mind to keep us grounded. Yet this, our lower mind, will fight for it's life if it sees that we have embraced the truth of our real nature. This fight is the Dark Night of the Soul. Some contemporary authors offer various solutions to avoid this
